Abstract This seminar presents a comprehensive assessment process including developmental, medical, psychological, oral-pharyngeal structure and function, respiratory function, movement and sensory issues, oral-motor function, and observation of feeding and swallowing activities. Pertinent information required to understand feeding and swallowing issues and needs, and when appropriate referral is necessary for specialized assessments such as swallow studies, behavioral strategies and oral-motor and feeding interventions are discussed.
