Imagine that this people have no other hope than living discreetly on its own land, simply because recent history, religion influences and politics have decided so ... Their homeland is claimed by the Turks, the Bulgarian... But, they are Greek today. Their ancient animist beliefs have almost been washed out by the endless conflicts between the Christians and the Muslims. Their mother language is still spoken by the elders. Greek is the language spoken in the country...But Turk is taught in most of the schools in the Pomak country. This is the daily life of the Pomak. This is the story of a woman in charge of the Social Affairs in the area who discovers the real life of the Pomak today. |
