Abstract The Story of Naro explains the origin of the spirits and the coloring of animals. Ugly Naro is jealous of his handsome brother, Yamonamariwa, who has two wives. Naro kills his brother by magic to obtain his wives, but is found out by a third brother. The ancesters, particularly Toucan and Sloth, hunt and kill Naro and are stained by his blood. They turn into birds and animals with red markings. Demonstrates storytelling techniques of the Yanomamo Indians of South America.
