Examining Student Work takes you behind the scenes of innovative schools to see how educators are using actual student work as data information to build a rich picture of student learning, to improve classroom instruction, to increase the rigor of teaching assignments -- ensuring that assignments align with standards -- and to provide teachers with opportunities for ongoing, job-embedded professional development. Scenes from actual classrooms and teacher work sessions reveal how to look at student work through a collaborative process. Interviews with educators explain how critical review of student assignments benefits classrooms and schools.
