| Abstract | Graham Gannon's background is varied, ranging from DJ to Enterprise Fellow with the University of East Anglia. With his wide variety of experience, Graham sees himself as an entrepreneur and encourages others to look at how they can develop their mathematical skills to help earn a living.Graham struggled with maths at school because he didn't see its relevance in every day life, but now he visits schools and colleges to help students understand how important maths is in the real world. We follow Graham on one of his visits, where he gets a group of Year 9 maths students to design, cost and market a new MP3 player. He use a business simulator to predict how each group's MP3 player will perform in the market place.Through the game Graham supports and encourages the students to look at how crucial mathematics is to the decisions they make. |
