Abstract |
Part three of a three-part series in which Pierre Boulez, Music Director of the New York Philharmonic, discusses many aspects of performing "contemporary" and "avant garde" music with panels representing the music world. here Arthur Weisberg, conductor of the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble, and Jacob Druckman, composer. Performances of modern music accompany and illustrate these talks. On this program the conversation concerns the responsibilities of the conductor, the architecture of concert halls, added rehearsal time needed for modern music, new or different orchestra personnel needed for new music. Pieces performed: "Valentine" by Druckman, "Eclat" by Boulez. |
