Summary Description: Manuscript log of HMS Providence, kept by Matthew Flinders, Midshipman, during Captain William Bligh's Second Breadfruit Voyage. The purpose of the voyage was to transport breadfruit from Tahiti to the West Indies. The log book contains charts showing the route taken by the Providence, meteorological recordings, sketches of the landscape, the day to day routine of the ships' crew and other observations.
