Abstract This two-volume collection contains images of Granville grant plats for Rowan County. Rowan County was created in 1753, from part of Anson County. The eastern boundary was Orange County (formed in 1752). These early grants from Lord John Carteret, Earl Granville provide historical insight in the settlements of the county, as well as for early roads routes (e.g. trading path). In addition, these grants provide a great resource for genealogy research. Included in this book is an image of the plat (including wording) and name indexing (last, first), river, roads, and other key words for fast research
