"This book contains select folder/papers out of the large Treasurer & Comptroller Paper collection for NC. This book includes images of the original documents along with transcription of key information that is indexed for quick searching (Last, First for surname). In addition, I included the entire index of the Military Paper collection catalog from the NC State Archives to allow the reader/researcher see the expanse of this collection (both volume and years). My focus in selecting folders was two-fold. First: 1780/81 for the Southern Campaign, when Gen Greene and Gen Cornwallis were in the state. Second: county-specific unique records for "Old Orange County" which includes records for (and in addition) Guilford, Surry, Granville, Chatham, Orange, and Caswell County. Also [there are] a number of S.C. related documents. There are other minor documents for other counties throughout the state, at that time." -- publisher website. |
