| Abstract | Using cases on individual countries, Economic Development in the Middle East and North Africa offers diverse theoretical and empirical evidence on a variety of issues facing policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders in the region. |
| Summary | The economies in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are characterized by public sector dominance in economic activity that ensures a large part of domestic production and relies on domestic financing resources. In most cases, these resources fail to meet the economies' needs. After radically liberalizing their economic policies, the countries in the region accelerated their development. As a result, MENA countries now play a crucial role in regional and global economic growth. Economic Development in the Middle East and North Africa contains theoretical and empirical studies on macro- and microeconomic issues covering panel studies and individual countries. Using cases on individual countries, this collection offers diverse theoretical and empirical evidence on a variety of issues facing policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders in the region. Contributors offer well-conceived testing of economic and finance theories, as well as an application of the most recent trends in theory and advanced econometric methodologies. Each chapter is dedicated to a different subject in economic development but articulated around a common region, which is a unique experience in this field. |
