Biographical noteJesse Wilbert Edgerton, 1918-2012, graduated from Guilford College in 1940 and taught high school until entering Civilian Public Service for his World War II service from 1942 to 1945. He received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University. He served in many organizations involved in mental health and as a lobbyist at the N.C. Legislature for mental health issues. He married Marianna Dow in 1943.
