Hashimoto was a Technician 5th class, in the 163rd and 171st Language Detachments, 32nd Infantry Division, I Corps, United States Army, which was assigned to the Southwest Pacific and Occupation of Japan. J. Akiba Isao was Misuyo's second husband and he was sent to a relocation camp as part of Japanese resettlement during the war.;
