Abstract Children with serious disabilities, whether mental or physical, are excluded from most of the normal activities and enjoyments of their contemporaries. If music-making can be made available to them it not only gives great pleasure and satisfaction, but also in some cases provides an incentive to overcome disabilities. Best of all, they can join in something that other children do. This book is an account of the author's work in adapting music, teaching methods, and instruments themselves, for these children. It contains lists of gadgets (with illustrations), suitable music, and other useful information, but its principal aim is to inspire those who work with disabled children to find new ways of bringing music to as many of them as possible.
