Abstract Admiral Weisner, a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, recounts his distinguished career from his days as a student at the U.S. Naval Academy up to his assignment as a Fleet commander, headquartered in Japan. Among the many experiences detailed are duty aboard the USS WASP until December 1942; completion of Naval flight training school; deployment to the western Pacific; and duty on the USS BADOENG STRAIT and USS RENDOVA; participation in the Korean Conflict; attendance at the Naval War College; fighter squadron assignments; and command of the USS GUADALUPE, USS CORAL SEA, USS RANGER, and USS ENTERPRISE. Admiral Weisner's recollections end with his assignment, in 1970, to the USS OKLAHOMA CITY, as commander of the U.S. Seventh Fleet.
