| Summary | The purpose of this problem of practice was to conduct an evaluation of the Pender County Alternative School, Students Taking Alternative Routes Academy (STAR). The evaluation was conducted using the Empowerment Evaluation system developed by Fetterman, Karfarian, and Wandersman (2015a). At the conclusion of the evaluation, it was recommended that the STAR Academy be left in place with recommendations to: (a) Improve linkages to referring schools; (b) Increase support systems for students enrolled in STAR Academy; and (c) Develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for all students enrolled in STAR. |
