Abstract |
Santería is a religion that has its roots in Cuba, combining West African religious traditions with Catholicism. Music is central to the religious philosophy. In this guide the authors transcribe the concise, highly distilled musical prayers of ritual batá drumming. They also detail the belief of Santería. Theirs is the only English-language book up to this point on what has long been a strictly oral tradition. |
