Abstract Let me introduce you to the parents of "Blackbeard"... Capt. Edward and Elizabeth Thache of St. Jago de la Vega or Spanish Town, Jamaica. Thache was a mariner born in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, son of an Anglican minister. He probably moved to Bristol, married, had children, and moved to Jamaica sometime before 1695. Capt. Edward died there at age 47. His son, Edward “Blackbeard” Thache Jr. joined the Royal Navy and fought in Queen Annes War aboard HMS Windsor! New records show that much of what we knew about Blackbeard was simply wrong. This has enormous implications not only for Blackbeard, but for much of history as well. This book attempts to rediscover exactly who Blackbeard was and how he related to his “Pirate Nation.”-- from author's website.
