Abstract The Pilot was concerned with improving agriculture and encouraging trade and industry. It resembled a newspaper, having much miscellaneous material, and had sections for poetry, news, moral items, anecdotes, literature, religion, and miscellany. Also included in the contents were articles of foreign countries, agricultural items, and listings of current prices. Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
