| Summary | The purpose of this study is to develop model computer skills modules for grades four and five. The modules are based on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study as presented in the library/media and computer skills section of the Teacher Handbook for grades 4-6. The units are intended for all teachers including the computer novice who has only rudimentary skills. When necessary, supplementary worksheets accompany the lesson plans. This thesis determines a need for and limitations of such a study, and discusses the methods of the study. Definitions of computer literacy are explored with emphasis placed on computer literacy as defined and implemented in the public schools of North Carolina. Models of computer literacy are investigated to determine which goals, objectives, scope and sequence, and specific lesson plans are in use. |
