In one the "Extract of a letter from Thomas Jefferson ... to Dr. Priestley, upon his 'Comparative view of Socrates and Jesus,'" dated Washington, April 9, 1803, begins on p. 46 and ends on p. 48, and is followed by "From Dr. Priestley to Mr. Lindsey, containing remarks upon Mr. Jefferson's letter," dated Northumberland, April 23, 1803. In the other these texts are set in smaller type, end in the middle of p. 47, and are followed by extracts of letters from Dr. Priestley to Mr. Lindsey dated New-York, June 15 and June 24, 1794. |
