General noteThough Sharp is named as the calculator on the title page, the calendar pages and eclipse predictions are in fact the work of William Collom. They duplicate those in Bailey's Rittenhouse almanac for 1815 (Philadelphia), calculated by Collom, except that they omit the ephemeris and the column of time equations.
General noteThe mistake apparently arose because the publishers copied this material from Bennett & Walton's almanac for this year. In Bennett & Walton it consists of offprints from Bailey's, supplied by the printer Lydia R. Bailey. Bennett & Walton unintentionally carried over Sharp's name from their own previous issues, failing to substitute that of Collom. Sharp's own almanacs for 1815 are distinctly different from Collom's work in their calculations and notes.
General noteTitle vignettes.
General noteThe illustrations, engraved by Mason after Woodside, consist of five full page wood engravings of American naval engagements during the War of 1812, accompanying reports of these and other operations.
