Mann, Mason is described as an "unfortunate man" with an intellectual system "insufficient to constitute him a moral agent, and consequently that he is not ameanable for, or ought not to answer with his life for the perpetration of the crime." Herman Mann, a Dedham printer, extracted Mason's last words through a series of questions laid, by him, before the condemned man during several visits in the days and hours before his execution. |
