General noteThough the wording of the title is intended to suggest that this almanac is the work of Nehemiah Strong, it was evidently calculated by Andrew Beers. The astronomical notes on the calendar pages and the eclipse predictions (p. [2]) are identical or practically so with those in Beers's almanac and ephemeris ... for 1795, by Andrew Beers (Hartford, Conn. : Hudson and Goodwin). The actual calculations are identical in part and in part vary slightly, presumably because Beers calculated "Strong's" for Massachusetts rather than Connecticut. The column giving lunations and other celestial phenomena, on the right of each calendar page, is a distinguishing feature of Beers' almanacs at this period.
General noteHowever, the page entitled "Variations of sun and clock," which is characteristic of Strong's almanacs, is not found in Beers, and appears to have been adapted from that in An astronomical diary, calendar, or almanack for 1795, by H. Stafford [pseud. Nehemiah Strong] (New Haven), most of the calculations being identical. There is no other resemblance to Strong.
General noteAdvertised in the Hampshire and Berkshire chronicle, Springfield, Nov. 25, 1794.
