| General note | Erroneously attributed to David Rittenhouse by Evans. Apparently calculated by Eben W. Judd. The calendar page calculations for the sun and moon, through the middle of September, are identical to those in Judd's An astronomical diary or almanack for 1785 (Hartford). The astronomical notes on these pages are also identical up to the same date, except that they are fewer in Weatherwise and some of their calculations vary. For the remainder of the year some variations are found in the times for the sun and moon. The times for high tide vary throughout the year in the two almanacs. |
| General note | After September, the astronomical notes on the calendar pages are a puzzle, in that they lose their resemblance to the work of Judd and appear to be an amalgam of that of Nathan Daboll and Daniel George. Daboll's almanac for 1785, issued under the pseudonym of Edmund Freebetter, was The New England almanack and gentlemen and ladies diary (New London). George's 1785 almanac has not survived, but compare his almanac for 1784, published at Boston. |
