The similarities between the eclipse notes and calendar pages of that series and those of this almanac suggest Williams' authorship, as does the fact that Williams, an astronomer and mathematician formerly of the Harvard faculty, had a few years previously settled in Rutland, for which vicinity the almanac is calculated.
