York, 18th June, 1779 : A meeting of the inhabitants of this town, being formerly called to consider of prudent and effectual measures, for putting a stop to forestalling extortion, and the depreciation of the Continental Currency, it was agreed, that a committee should be appointed, to draw up resolves.
