General noteMistakenly attributed to Samuel Bownas by Hildeburn and Evans. Another account of Hanson's captivity, entitled "An account of the captivity of Elizabeth Hanson" was "taken in substance from her own mouth, by Samuel Bownas." That account was published in London in 1760 and again in 1787.
General noteThe only known copy, held by the Huntington Library, lacks title page and p. 37-40. Title page transcription based on an advertisement in the Pennsylvania gazette, Dec. 24, 1728.
