Abstract The principal need for this study stems from the inadequacy of brass instructional material and the potential adequacy of baroque literature if available in modern transcriptions. Brass instruments in the educational curriculum hold a status equal to other performance areas and should be approached through literature designed to permit the greatest growth of the student's musicianship.
