| Abstract | Evans came to prominence for his arrangements for the Claude Thornhill band in the 1940s. His work with Miles Davis' 9 piece band culminated in the brilliant record Birth of the Cool ('49-50) and their collaborations continued until 1960. More recently Gil Evans has toured the world often with various combos and he was named a founding artist of the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts. |
