| General note | Attribution according to Goldsmiths' Library, in accordance with Oastler who attributed the poem to Nicholson in his ms. index to his pamphlet collection. James Ross, in the introduction to his The factory child's father's reply to the factory child 's mother, suggested that Nicholson wrote only part of the poem, thereby suggesting that the operative on the t.p. was someone other than Nicholson, which would explain the unflattering footnote about Nicholson on p. 40. |
