Abstract This edition contains all of the existing musical sketches for Stravinsky's Histoire du soldat (1918), representing over 250 facsimile pages from the combined holdings of the Paul Sacher Stiftung (Basel) and the Rychenberg Stiftung in Winterthur. Without the generosity of the owners of these manuscripts and the permission of Chester Music of London, this project would not have been possible. Invited essays by literary scholars at the Centre de recherches sur les lettres romandes, Université de Lausanne, who are editing the complete works of Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz, provide the cultural context for the collaboration between Ramuz and Stravinsky.
