| Abstract |
Reviews the anatomy and function of the larynx and respiratory system in singing in order to improve singing technique. Describes how the lungs, ribs, diaphragm, and abdominal muscles are involved in breathing for singing, and shows how they function separately and together. Discusses the vocal tract and describes the functions and implications of the vocal folds (formerly the larynx). Shows scenes of a real larynx using a fiberoptic endoscope and includes MRI footage of a performer's larynx as she sings. |
