Summary This handbook provides the radiological monitor with the information and techniques normally required to perform essential duties. It also provides guidance that may be required, but should not be used, unless competent guidance is unavailable from a radiological defense officer. The possession of this manual is not sufficient to assure that an untrained person can effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities required of a radiological monitor. All personnel assigned monitoring responsibilities should complete, as a minimum, the Radiological Monitoring Course prescribed by the Office of Civil Defense, Department of Defense.
