| Abstract | The pocket signal disk was a kind of training tool during WWII. The alphabet flags of the the international flag code are plainly illustrated on the wheel of the disk. The numeral pennants appear on the face of the disk below. By turning the wheel the flags appear opposite their spoken names as shown in the opening to the left. The special flags and pennants are similarly shown on the opposite side of the disk. |

| General note | "U.S. Service issue an original time saving device for instruction and review in the general service and semaphore signal codes. Including the international flag code and special flags and pennants. The student should study the selected code then as a test turn the corresponding wheel and endeavor to call the meaning of the characters as they appear in the opening. Having learned the codes the actual sending and receiving of messages can be accomplished with little difficulty."--Pocket. |
