Summary Mimicry occurs when species (palatable or unpalatable) evolve to resemble unpalatable species to obtain protection from predation. Although the majority of work done on mimicry has focused butterflies of the genus Heliconius, both Batesian mimicry and M lerian mimicry are found in poison frogs (Dendrobatidae). Aposematic species living in sympatry are prime candidates for cases of mimicry because they can share the burden of naive predator education. Building on previous work that elucidated the first case of M lerian mimicry in frogs, I characterize a case of mimicry in the Peruvian poison frog, Ranitomeya imitator. In this thesis, I present a new analysis of color pattern polymorphism and M lerian mimicry in R. imitator, using a novel method to quantify phenotypic divergence in pattern.
