| Abstract | This annotated discography is intended as a buying guide for collectors and librarians, and will also interest black-music scholars for their evaluative comments about the best and most enduring jazz recordings. The cut-off date for these discographical entries is 1974. Titles are arranged in categories according to styles, and each chapter has its own introduction, which offers brief historical, stylistic, and bibliographic comments. The book also includes a directory of record labels and artist indexes. The annotations for the entries vary in length from 150 words to multiple full pages. |
