| Abstract | Frances Perkins was born on April 10, 1882, at Boston, Massachusetts. Ms. Perkins served as Secretary of Labor for 12 years, from 1933 to 1945. During this time, she received several threats and extortion letters and sometimes required extra protection for her safety. When she left the post of Secretary of Labor, she went to work at the Civil Service Commission. In 1952, the FBI conducted a background investigation of Perkins at the request of the White House. |
