| Abstract | This book discusses the historical background of the concertos, the orchestras for which they may have been written, the instruments employed and certain points of interest in their performance. Also it contains a short analysis of the works. The instruments are discussed in the order in which they appear in the various works. Notes on horns, oboes, bassoon, violin piccolo, violone and the function of the harpsichord in continuo appear before the analysis of Concerto no. 1. The trumpet and recorder are discussed before Concerto no. 2; the recorder before Concerto no. 4; the flute before Concerto no. 5, and the gamba and viola da braccia before Concerto no. 6. |
