| Abstract | A special purpose slide rule designed to compute the free space propagation delay between a synchronous satellite and points on the earth's surface is discussed. The slide rule was developed to provide users of time information relayed by geostationary satellites a means of computing the propagation delays without dealing directly with the satellite's orbital elements. The delays computed with the slide rule are compared with the values obtained from orbital elements using a high precision digital computer. The limitations and accuracy of the slide rule are discussed. A sample slide rule which may be cut out and used is included in the report. |
