Abstract |
Correspondence, by-laws, resolutions, committees, financial reports, newspaper clippings, and two photographs. Correspondence includes several letters of appreciation for contributions to the Foundation. One letter to Carl Goerch gives a description of the actual O'Neal murder and asks him to tell of the Foundation's plans. The collection also contains by-laws, resolutions, committee membership listings, and financial reports of the O'Neal Foundation. Also in the collection are several newspaper clippings and a proclamation by the Mayor of Greenville. |

Biographical note | The O'Neal Foundation, founded June 9, 1949, was established in response to the brutal murder of William Benjamin O'Neal. The citizens of the Greenville area, to show their sympathy to O'Neal's widow and children, organized to solicit funds to build Mrs. O'Neal and her children a new home. |
