General note | Vol. 1, "In later copies K 7-8 (pp. 141-4) and L 6-7 (pp.347-50) were cancelled, and replaced by corrected leaves... The corrections in the first group concern the headlines; those in the second group imply the omission of 'J. Swift' on p. 348, and of 'By a person of quality' on p. 349. Moreover, on the latter page, 'Dated January 9. 1719/20.' has been altered into 'Dublin, January 9." - Herman Teerink. A bibliography of the writings of Jonathan Swift. The copy filmed has the cancelled pages in sequence, the corrected ones bound between 402 and 403, 406 and 407. |

It describes the contents as being "whatever loose papers in prose and verse, we have formerly written;... likewise ... all the papers wherein we have casually had any share; particularly those writ in conjunction with our friends, Dr. Arburthnot and Mr. Gay; and lastly, all of this sort composed singly by either of those hands." |
