Biographical noteJohn Timbrell is Emeritus Professor of Biochemical Toxicology in the Pharmacy Department at King's College London and was a member of the Commitee on Toxicigy, U.K.Govenment. He was the founding Editor of the journal Biomarkers (Taylor and Francis Ltd). Publishers. He has been involved with the teaching and development of toxicology courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level for 30 years. Frank A. Barile is retired Professor of Toxicology in the Pharmaceutical sciences Department, St. John's University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, New York. He is past President of the In Vitro and Alternative Methods (IVAM) Specialty Section of the U.S. Society of Toxicology and a former member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for Alternative Toxicological Methods (SACATM), NIEHS, U.S. National Institutes of Health. He is former Chief Editor of Toxicology in Vitro.
