General noteAlthough dated [1770] by Evans and Hildeburn, the address was more likely issued in 1768 in opposition to the Townshend Acts. It favors support of a twelve-month non-importation agreement passed in Boston, contingent upon similar action in New York and Philadelphia (Boston merchants passed such an agreement in March 1768). Reference is also made to non-importation resolutions successfully applied "two years past" against the Stamp Act.
