Abstract In the world's most dangerous war zone, 400 American soldiers carry out their mission from a bombed-out pleasure palace once owned by Saddam Hussein. Welcome to a place called "Gunner Palace" and experience what life is like for the soldiers who live there. For these war hardened soldiers "minor combat" involves everything from executing raids on suspected terrorists, enduring roadside bombs and mortar attacks from an enemy they never see to post-raid parties around the palace pool. This is their story which shows a side of the war not seen on the nightly news.
