Summary The purpose of this research was to examine the current knowledge of assistive technology among selected members of a rural school district. Of the thirty-one eligible participants, twenty chose to participate. They were surveyed using the Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology matrices. The participants responded to statements in five different areas that related to the districts use of assistive technology. Percentages and frequencies were used to report the demographic information. Means were used to report responses to specific statements in the matrices. Correlation coefficients were also used to determine a statistical relationship between demographic information and responses to survey statements. Results showed that there was a correlation between years in the participants' current position and overall experience with many of the statements. In most of the sections, the technologists averaged lower responses than those of other subO groups. The overall data showed that the district had available many procedures and services, related to assistive technology. However, the members of district may not be aware of them. Limitations of the research included the participation rate as well the selected sample used. Future research in the area of assistive technology may lead to improved continuity of services, which will allow students with disabilities, who need assistive technology devices and services, to receive them appropriately by staff that have the knowledge and skill to implement them in ways to best meet the student's needs.
