Abstract |
The bulk of the collection consists of school catalogs of the Atlantic Collegiate Institute (1904-1906). Catalogs describe the history of the school, curriculum, and fees. Also included are school report cards of Pauline Hinton from Miss Martin's School; 1908-1909 school catalog of Graded Schools of Elizabeth City, N.C.; "The Tatler" for Elizabeth City High School for Christmas 1915; and photographs. Correspondence concerns a resolution passed by the Board of Graded School Trustees naming the Grammar School in Sheep's memory. |

Biographical note | Samuel Lloyd Sheep was a noted educator in Elizabeth City and the surrounding area. Involved in education for his entire life, Sheep was president of Atlantic Collegiate Institute. Upon his death in 1928, the Board of Graded School Trustees named the Grammar School Building in Elizabeth City, N.C., in his memory. |
