State of Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations. In General Assembly, October session, A.D. 1777 : Whereas, owing to divers causes ... several town-councils in this state have not yet collected the monies due from several delinquents, who were draughted to do duty ... and in whose stead they hired persons: it is voted and resolved, that... they are hereby empowered and directed, to collect the sums due ... and to issuse warrants of distraint against them.
