By His Excellency Samuel Huntington, Esq. ... A proclamation : Whereas the honorable General Assembly of this state at their session begun and held at Hartford, on the second Thursday of instant May, have thought fit and necessary to lay an embargo on certain articles, by their act or resolve, in the words following, viz. ... I do therefore hereby require and command all persons within this state, to yield strict and due obedience ... Given at Hartford, the 22d day of May, Anno Domino 1789.
