These questions can often be answered through archaeometric dating and provenance analyses. As both archaeological sites and objects, shipwrecks pose a special problem in archaeometric dating and provenance because when they sailed, they often accumulated new construction material as timbers were repaired and replaced. Additionally, during periods of globalization, such as the so-called Age of Discovery, the provenance of construction materials may not reflect where the ship was built due to long-distance timber trade networks and the global nature of these ships' sailing routes. Accepting these special challenges, nautical archaeologists must piece together the nuanced relationship between the ship, its timbers, and the shipwreck, and to do so, wood samples must be removed from the assemblage. 538 Mode of access: World Wide Web 650 0 Shipwrecks. |=^A19719 650 0 Underwater archaeology. |=^A19718 650 0 Dendrochronology. |=^A30127 650 7 Dendrochronology. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst00890285 650 7 Shipwrecks. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01116638 650 7 Underwater archaeology. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01161071 655 0 Electronic books. |=^A491897 700 1 Nayling, Nigel. |=^A586387 700 1 Momber, Garry. |=^A1265206 700 1 Crespo Solana, Ana. |=^A1367200 830 0 Access archaeology. |=^A1316365 856 40 |zFull text available from Ebook Central - Academic Complete |uhttps://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/eastcarolina/detail.action?docID=6728829 947 (OCoLC)on1019657424 949 CLICK ON WEB ADDRESS |wASIS |hJOYNER188 949 CLICK ON WEB ADDRESS |wASIS |hHSL77 949 CLICK ON WEB ADDRESS |wASIS |hJMUSIC60 596 1 3 4 998 5870794
