The author traces the origin and the controversial development of what he condemns as an influential misnomer. "I do not know who was the first to use this appellation, on whom the blame for launching it falls," lamented the late Russian-American literary historian, Gleb Struve. Ronen sets out to debunk the idea that attributes invention of the term to Nikolai Berdiaev, and in turn traces this widely used catchword in the critical idiom from an obscure avant-garde manifesto to the present day. He convincingly lays to rest the use of a term that he sees as the most misleading constituent of Russia's contemporary cultural self-awareness and self-assessment."--Jacket 538 Mode of access: World Wide Web 546 Includes poems in Russian (Romanized) and in English translation. 648 7 1900-1999 |2fast 648 7 Geschichte 1890-1917. |2swd 648 7 Geschichte 1900-1917. |2swd 650 0 Russian literature |y20th century |xHistory and criticism. |=^A17776 650 6 Littérature russe |y20e siècle |xHistoire et critique. 650 7 Russian literature. |2fast |0(OCoLC)fst01102312 650 7 Kultur |2gnd 650 7 Literatur |2gnd 650 7 Russisch |2gnd 650 7 Silbernes Zeitalter |2gnd |gBegriff 650 17 Russisch. |2gtt 650 17 Letterkunde. |2gtt 650 17 Periodisering. |2gtt 651 7 Russland |2gnd |?UNAUTHORIZED 651 7 Russisch. |2swd |?UNAUTHORIZED 655 0 Electronic books. |=^A491897 830 0 Sign/text/culture ; |vv. 1. |=^A683840 856 40 |zFull text available from Ebook Central - Academic Complete |uhttps://ebookcentral.proquest.com/lib/eastcarolina/detail.action?docID=237419 947 (OCoLC)ocm36673240 949 CLICK ON WEB ADDRESS |wASIS |hJOYNER188 949 CLICK ON WEB ADDRESS |wASIS |hHSL77 949 CLICK ON WEB ADDRESS |wASIS |hJMUSIC60 596 1 3 4 998 5306169
